Peter and Irene are famished after a stressful day of travel and are ready to celebrate their wedding anniversary over dinner. Somehow, they both get more and less than they bargained for when they walk into a charming Greek restaurant craving freshly baked spanakopita and meet their highly neurotic waiter, Stephen. As he insinuates his way into their meal—and their lives—the couple examines their past and their future together. Playwright Wendy MacLeod brings us a tender story that delves deeply into what we hunger for and a scrumptious comedy we guarantee will leave you rolling in your chair laughing.

  • Through high school, Peter did a lot of theatre, but put it on hold for college (proud Badger!) and a career in the radio business which took him all over the country before retiring to Portland in 2019. Since then, Peter has performed in The Man Who Came to Dinner, Two Witches, No Waiting (BCT) and Love Letters (Mask & Mirror). Peter also acted in virtual productions of A Christmas Carol and Help Desk (Mask & Mirror). He notes “This is my 4th show with Rebecca and my second with Sam. I’m thrilled to work with them – and Amanda – again!”

  • Rebecca re-started working on her acting passion after a many years hiatus (job, parenting). She has enjoyed a number of roles including Mrs. Paddy – The Curious Savage, Carrie Watts - The Trip To Bountiful, Evelyn - Independence, Betty Meeks - The Foreigner, Virginia - Native Gardens, and Melissa - Love Letters (co-staring with Peter Bolger). Rebecca enthusiastically thanks for casting her in Slow Food, and making the rehearsals fun! Rebecca thanks her best fans, husband Pete Hines and daughter Bevyn Rowland for their encouragement and support. She also asks furry baby Buttercup’s forgiveness for so many nights away from home.

  • Sam is from Greenville, SC, but has been living in Portland for the past 8 years. He holds a BFA in theater from Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts. Past credits include: As You Like It (Canon Shakespeare Company), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (HART), The Man Who Came to Dinner and Death By Design (BCT), Help Me (Twilight Theater - Fertile Ground Reading), Hamlet (The Gross Masons - NYC), Twelfth Night (Shakespeare's Globe - London), Eurydice (Rutgers). He is currently a Talent Agent with the Portland’s In Both Ears and Seattle’s, The Actors Group.

  • Amanda's is excited that Spark Plug has grown to have a second production! Past directing credits include: FUTURA, Two Witches, No Waiting, Ramona Quimby, and Almost, Maine. She has also been seen onstage at various local theatres. Favorite roles include Mary Anning in Digging Up Dessa, Berta in Boeing, Boeing, and Corie Bratter in Barefoot in the Park. Amanda holds degrees in Acting and Advertising from Ball State University and works as the Marketing Coordinator for Chehalem Cultural Center in Newberg.

  • Anna (pronounced “Ah-na”) is both a seasoned Stage Manager and performer with a background in symphonic & marching percussion. Recent productions include The Man Who Came to Dinner, Ramona Quimby and Two Witches, No Waiting brought to life at Beaverton Civic Theatre, Spark Plug’s debut show FUTURA, and Goodnight Moon with Oregon Children’s Theatre. Outside of the stage, Anna is an avid gardener and aspiring horticulturist. Special thanks to all of the talented individuals that helped make this show possible and to our lovely audience members for supporting us as we grow!
