The world is getting hotter, there’s unrest overseas—the seas themselves aren’t very calm—and one couple is thinking about having a child. LUNGS is a smart and funny drama that follows a couple through the surprising lifecycle of their relationship, as they grapple with questions of family and change, hope, betrayal, happenstance, and the terrible pain that you can only cause the people you love. CONTENT ADVISORY

“Duncan Macmillan’s distinctive, off-kilter love story is brutally honest, funny, edgy and current. It gives voice to a generation for whom uncertainty is a way of life through two flawed, but deeply human, people who you don’t always like but start to feel you might love…bravely written, startlingly structured…” —The Guardian (UK)

  • Bryce Bristow has enjoyed performing across venues from Forest Grove to Tigard, with roles including Derek in Ripcord, Garry in Noises Off, Nick in Over the River and Through the Woods, and Simon in Spirit Level. Previously with Spark Plug Theatre Collective, Bryce portrayed Gideon in Hand of God in the Looking for Light collection. He’s grateful for the hard-working crew supporting this production and for Amanda, his dedicated stage partner in this journey. Most of all, he is unspeakably grateful for his wonderful wife and best friend, Meg, for fifteen years of conversations, and he looks forward to many more.

  • Amanda is ecstatic to bring this challenging and deeply human story to life alongside Bryce, Amy, Ian, Annicca, and the rest of the creative team! It is truly a dream ensemble. Active in the area’s theatre scene as an actor for over a decade and, more recently, as a director, some favorite past roles include Annette in God of Carnage, Berta in Boeing, Boeing, Corie Bratter in Barefoot in the Park, and Laurie in Stage Kiss. A founding member of Spark Plug Theatre Collective, she is consistently fueled and inspired by the incredible artists who give their time and their talent to share these stories with the community.

  • Amy Millay earned her theatre degree from OSU a million years ago. Several years ago she missed theatre too much and found her way back into the arts. At Beaverton Civic Theatre she co-directed Elephant and Piggie’s We Are In a Play, helped coach the chorus in The Addams Family, and directed The 39 Steps. She also directed a staged reading of Seminar at Twilight Theater Company. She is thrilled to be stepping back into the director’s seat with this incredible cast and production team. Huge thanks to Amanda and Spark Plug for the opportunity. Much love to her family, especially her sweet husband Brad and fur-babies Louie and Moggett.

  • Ian is proud to make his Assistant Directoral debut here at Spark Plug Theatre Collective. He has previously directed Woman In Black at Nutz-N-Boltz theater and has been on stage as an actor in many other productions around Portland. Anyway, enough about Ian. How are you?

  • Annie has loved theatre her whole life and is excited to jump back in after taking a hiatus during the pandemic. She loves using her organizational and systematic skill set to support the arts, because they are vitally important and everyone should be able to be involved in a way that suits them. Love and thanks to her amazing husband Ray, always supportive. Mom and her fur butts at home.

  • As the Trauma-Informed Coordinator for the play, Annicca brings a wealth of expertise with a bachelor's degree in psychology. Trained in trauma-informed care, Annicca ensures a compassionate and supportive environment for the cast and crew, enhancing the overall production experience.
